JOHN DICKINSON

                 

Joined first group on leaving school, in 1964, played  at legendary  TWISTED WHEEL, Manchester,

in 1965 became member of the  7 piece 'VICTOR BROX BLUES TRAIN' and toured the UK for 2 years,

in 1967 joined  a 6 piece R'n'B/Soul  band  'TOGGERY'  featuring 'PAUL YOUNG' later  of  'SAD CAFE'  and  'MIKE &  THE MECHANICS',  and  guitarist  'MICK ABRAHAMS'  later of  'BLODWYN PIG'  &  'JETHRO TULL', the band toured extensively, working in the UK, Germany, Holland, Belguim & France, including several months at the 'TOP TEN CLUB 'in Hamburg.

In 1969 co-formed  'ELECTRIC CIRCUS'  with various members of  the previous bands plus 'JACK LANCASTER' famed saxist with several bands,  This band played mainly London dates including the first gig of 'SOFT MACHINE' at TILES CLUB, Oxford St, where John met a young guitarist named 'JIMI HENDRIX'  who played 'SOFT MACHINE'S' second set because nobody liked them!!!.

in 1972  joined 'YOUNG &  RENSHAW' (again with Paul Young) as sound engineer and once again toured  UK and Germany.

In 1977  joined 'No MYSTERY'  with 'NORMAN BEAKER'

1984 joined 'MEGABAND'  formed by 'JOHN BRETT', gigged mainly in the Manchester area.

1986  co-formed  'SWITCH DOCTOR'  a 5 piece R'n'B band and worked non-stop for 10 years including a session for the BBC radio  show 'Paul Jones - Blues on Two', and supporting 'Dr FEELGOOD' &  'WILKO JOHNSON' along the way.

in 1987  co-formed  the 'SOUL BANDITS' a 60's soul band, working with names such as 'JIMMY RUFFIN'   the 'DRIFTERS',  This band is still working succesfully in the Manchester area.
